To build recognition of Sukagawa Tokusatsu Archives Center, we asked the public for our silhouette Kaiju’s name ideas in September 2020. We received 1956 ideas from Sukagawa City residents, many of them school children and students. Among various ideas, “Sukaking” was selected as Best Name. At the Center’s opening ceremony held on November 3, we revealed the Kaiju’s name and awarded the finalists who submitted ideas.
To gain further recognition of the Center, we asked preschoolers of the City in April 2021 to send in Sukaking coloring pictures. We received 812 pictures, and a simple outline drawing of Sukaking suddenly became a colorful Kaiju. Two of the best coloring pictures were chosen, and we awarded the young artists at our first opening anniversary event.
We hope you enjoy meeting “Sukaking” at Sukagawa Tokusatsu Archives Center.
Sukaking’s two horns have the power to detect people in need of help, or who are being bullied, and will race to the rescue anywhere and anytime. Sukaking is indeed the King who protects Sukagawa City. Sukaking enjoys eating Sukagawa-branded “Iwase Cucumber (Iwase Kiuri),” and dreams of attending the “Kiuri Tennousai Matsuri Festival” someday.
